Lewis Carroll lived here with his five sisters and Aunt Lucy for many years until his death in 1898. Here he wrote Alice through the Looking Glass.

This very effective statue of Alice can be found near the bowling green in the Castle Gardens. The author, Lewis Carroll , lived nearby.
